In the state's north-central region, Tioga County's forests are ablaze with crimson, yellow, and gold hues, signaling an early peak this season.

Neighboring areas, including parts of northern, northeastern, and south-central Pennsylvania, are swiftly approaching their own peak colors.

Conversely, regions like southeastern Pennsylvania, encompassing Lancaster County, are just beginning to show signs of change, with minimal color transformation observed.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) released its latest foliage report on Thursday, September 25, noting that the season's progression is about a week ahead of the usual schedule.

This acceleration is attributed to the prolonged dry conditions experienced in late summer and early fall.

While the dry weather is expected to produce vivid fall colors, it may also result in a shorter-than-usual display.

Tioga State Forest: A drive along the Route 6 corridor offers breathtaking views of the vibrant landscape.

Hikers can explore the Sand Run Falls trail for an immersive experience.

In Buchanan State Forest, areas within Bedford County are nearing peak color.

Gallitzin State Forest in Blair and Cambria counties boasts scenic overlooks on Stevenson Farm Road, as well as trails like Clark Run, Skyline Drive, and County Line.

For those in the Loyalsock State Forest, regions within Bradford County are showcasing early autumn hues.

In the Weiser State Forest, particularly in Carbon, Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, and Schuylkill counties, the Penn Forest and Roaring Creek tracts, along with Locust Lake and Hickory Run State Parks, are prime spots for leaf-peeping.

Sproul State Forest in Clinton County offers the Bucktail Natural Area along Route 120 between Lock Haven and Renovo.
