Cambria County Reports Smooth Municipal Election, Resolving Previous Ballot Issues |
Enhanced planning and testing lead to successful voting process |
Cambria County officials have announced a seamless municipal election this week, marking a significant improvement over the previous year's challenges.
Last year, a widespread printing error disrupted the voting process, leading to extended hours and voter frustration.
In response, the county implemented comprehensive planning and rigorous testing to prevent similar issues.
Scott Hunt, the county's president commissioner, emphasized the importance of learning from past mistakes.
He credited the successful election to the diligent efforts of Nicole Burkhardt, the director of elections, and her team.
Burkhardt highlighted several key improvements, including updates to poll worker manuals and processing ballots by precinct rather than in batches.
These changes contributed to a more efficient and error-free Election Day.
She also noted that counting regular and mail-in ballots as they were received streamlined the process.
Hunt reported a notable increase in voter turnout, rising from approximately 25-30% in previous years to about 42-43% this year.
Despite the higher participation, the county managed the process effectively.
Burkhardt concluded that the election was a success and emphasized the importance of having sufficient poll workers to maintain efficiency in future elections. |
