CamTran Releases Update on Inclined Plane Rehabilitation Project |
Progress Continues with Key Milestones Achieved |
CamTran has provided a new update on the ongoing rehabilitation of the Johnstown Inclined Plane, highlighting recent accomplishments and outlining the next steps toward reopening.
According to the latest release, significant progress includes the removal and adjustment of the East Haul Brake band, which has been reinstalled after precise modifications. Additionally, a new torque wrench testing apparatus has been constructed, and the communication systems on the Incline cars have been tested successfully, ensuring they function as intended. The electrical room fan controller has also been completed.
Officials noted that only one item remains under the Labor and Industry comments, which will be addressed promptly. The next phase involves adjusting the safety gate to ensure proper operation, marking the final item on the Labor and Industry list identified during commissioning.
Labor and Industry will be scheduled to return to the Incline once this last punch list item is completed. In accordance with state requirements, all maintenance work will be conducted by staff during a 30-day period before the State Safety Oversight Office returns to perform final testing. Upon successful inspection, approval will be granted to reopen the Inclined Plane to the public.
Operator and Conductor training will be scheduled and conducted concurrently with the 30-day maintenance period. A reopening date will be confirmed after final inspections and all required training have been completed.
Throughout the duration of the project, Asiago's restaurant, located in the Inclined Plane's Visitor's Center, will remain open, offering its services to patrons.
