Chick-fil-A Secures Approval for New Location in Cambria County |
Richland Township Greenlights Variances for Upcoming Restaurant |
Residents of Richland Township can look forward to a new dining option as Chick-fil-A has received the necessary approvals to proceed with construction plans.
The Richland Township Zoning Hearing Board unanimously approved setback variances during a recent public hearing, allowing the project to move forward at the former Wolf Furniture site on 1130 Scalp Avenue.
According to Justin Thornton, civil engineer for Chick-fil-A, the company aims to open the new restaurant by 2027.
The plan involves demolishing the existing structure to make way for a modern restaurant equipped with a drive-thru.
The approved variances permit the building to be constructed 33 feet closer to Constable Avenue and four feet closer to Frances Street than current zoning laws typically allow.
These adjustments are designed to accommodate a drive-thru canopy and a dumpster enclosure.
To maintain the area's aesthetic appeal, the design includes new landscaping features.
Plans call for planting evergreen trees to screen the drive-thru and dumpster areas from view along Frances Street and Constable Avenue.
While Chick-fil-A will occupy a portion of the property, the site's owner, Butterfli Holdings LLC, intends to subdivide the lot and lease the remaining space to another business.
The restaurant is expected to employ 15 to 20 local workers and operate during standard Chick-fil-A hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Once complete, the new location will sit across from the McDonald's on Scalp Avenue, adding another dining option for residents and travelers. |
