Exotic Animals Head to Johnstown Classrooms Ahead of Wild World of Animals Show |
Sloths, armadillos, owls and more will visit Bishop McCort students before the family-friendly wildlife spectacular at UPJ |
A unique wildlife experience is coming to Johnstown, complete with live animals from across the globe. Wild World of Animals, featuring wildlife expert Grant Kemmerer, will take the stage at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (UPJ) on Saturday, May 16 at 3 p.m. The show is designed for audiences of all ages and promises an up-close look at fascinating creatures from around the world. In preparation for the main event, Kemmerer is bringing some of the animals directly into local classrooms this week at Bishop McCort Catholic Elementary School. Students will have the chance to meet an owl, an armadillo, a sloth, and other remarkable creatures up close. Organizers say the school visits are just a preview of the even bigger lineup planned for the live performance. “We’re going to see kangaroos, sloths, animals you’re familiar with. We’re going to see animals that you’re going to have no idea what they are,” Kemmerer said. First Summit Arena Marketing Manager Chad Mearns added, “It’s bringing in a bunch of different animals, bringing the zoo to you, so to speak. It’s going to be a marvelous chance for kids, families, and anyone interested in animals and wildlife to come see these amazing creatures.” Tickets for the show are on sale now through Ticketmaster or at the First Summit Arena box office. |
