Bridge Rehabilitation to Impact U.S. 219 and Route 3104 in Cambria County |
PennDOT announces lane closures, detours, and overnight restrictions as part of a long-term bridge replacement project in Richland Township. |
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a major bridge rehabilitation project for Route 3104 (Mt. Airy Drive) over U.S. 219 in Richland Township, Cambria County. Beginning Monday, March 30, the project will bring lane restrictions to U.S. 219 and a full closure of Route 3104 over the highway. The improvements include repairs to bridge columns and foundations, as well as the complete replacement of the bridge deck, girders, and beams. Crews will also perform minor paving and guide rail updates to enhance roadway safety. When work begins, the left lane of both northbound and southbound U.S. 219 will be closed. Route 3104 will remain fully closed during the project, with traffic redirected along a 2.9‑mile detour route using Route 3033 (Solomon Run Road), Route 3031 (Galleria Drive), and Oakridge Drive. The detour will remain in place until the project’s projected completion in late October 2026. PennDOT has also scheduled several short-term overnight detours on U.S. 219 later in the project timeline to accommodate bridge demolition and beam placement. J.F. Shea Construction Co. is leading the $2.26 million project, which also includes curb, sidewalk, and ADA curb ramp upgrades along Main Street between Chestnut Street and Rock Street. These additional improvements are expected to be completed by August 2026. For project updates and travel information, drivers are encouraged to visit 511pa.com. |
