Ongoing Roadwork in Cambria County Brings Continued Traffic Delays |
PennDOT projects across key routes expected to slow travel through mid-June |
Construction activity across Cambria County will continue to impact traffic this week, according to an update from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). Beginning Monday, June 8, multiple road projects will remain active, with delays expected through Friday, June 19. Drivers traveling along Route 756 (Bedford Street/Elton Road) in Richland Township should anticipate delays of up to 15 minutes. Crews are relocating waterlines near Vo-Tech Drive and Industrial Park Road, while additional signal work is underway along Theatre Drive near Eisenhower Boulevard. Similar delays are expected along Route 756 between Route 403 and Route 3016 in the Johnstown area, including Geistown and Lorain Borough. Work there includes pavement resurfacing, shoulder grading, and guide rail removal and installation. On U.S. 22 (William Penn Highway), lane restrictions will remain in place between the Route 164/Munster-Portage exit and the Blair County line. Crews are completing resurfacing, drainage improvements, and guide rail upgrades. Restrictions will affect both eastbound and westbound traffic, extending to the Level Road bridge. Meanwhile, a more significant traffic impact continues along U.S. 219 in Richland Township. A single-lane restriction remains in effect in both directions, with traffic limited to left-passing lanes through June 26. This is part of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Mt. Airy Drive bridge. A 2.9-mile detour is in place via Solomon Run Road, Galleria Drive, and Oakridge Drive. The project includes replacing the bridge superstructure and repairing structural components such as columns and foundations. PennDOT urges drivers to use caution in all work zones, remain alert for posted signs and flaggers, and plan ahead for delays. Motorists are encouraged to check current traffic conditions through the 511PA system by visiting www.511PA.com, using the mobile app, or dialing 511. The service provides real-time updates, including traffic speeds, weather conditions, delay alerts, and access to live traffic cameras across the state. |
