Central PA County Fairs: Late Summer Fun for the Whole Family

When the dog days of August roll in, central Pennsylvania comes alive with the sights, sounds, and smells of county fair season. From livestock barns to grandstand thrills, the region's beloved fairs offer something for everyone — whether you're a lifelong local or a first-time visitor.

Kicking things off, the Somerset County Fair runs August 21–29 in Meyersdale, celebrating its 126th year as a showcase of agriculture and youth. Expect classic fair charm: animal exhibits, competitions, and the kind of community spirit that makes these events feel timeless.

Running the same dates, the Westmoreland Fair in Greensburg (August 21–29) offers family fun from demolition derbies to bottle rocket competitions, along with farm and home exhibits, 4-H and FFA showcases, and daily animal showmanship events. It's a full week of entertainment for all ages.

Right here in Blair County, the Williamsburg Community Farm Show (August 23–28) bills itself as the largest Blair County fair, with a mission of harvesting joy and uniting the community through nightly entertainment, craft shows, and agricultural exhibits.

The Indiana County Fair (August 28–September 5) focuses on promoting agricultural sciences and connecting producers, consumers, and local businesses — all wrapped up in a classic fair atmosphere with rides, food, and competitions.

Closing out the season, the American Legion County Fair in Ebensburg (September 6–12) features farm equipment, animal displays, carnival rides, food vendors, and grandstand events including demolition derbies and tractor pulls.
