Put Your Business Where the Eyes Are! |
Hello there, neighbor! It is such an exciting time to be in Cambria County. From the streets of downtown Johnstown to the charm of Ebensburg, our local business scene is truly buzzing as we kick off 2026. I’ve been out and about chatting with some of the folks behind the latest storefronts, and I can't wait to share their stories with you.
It’s a great day to be in Ebensburg! The "Mountain City" is really showing its strength lately, and honestly, the sense of momentum on High Street and along the Admiral Peary Highway is hard to miss. Our local entrepreneurs are busy turning dreams into reality, and I’ve got the scoop on two very different, but equally exciting, additions to our neighborhood.
The Loft at WintersetLocation: 2297 Lakeview Road, Ebensburg, PA Projected Opening: Spring 2026 (Currently taking bookings!) If you’ve driven past the historic Winterset estate recently, you might have noticed some beautiful changes. The Loft at Winterset is the newest venture from local owners John and Sarah Miller, who are transforming a stunning, rustic barn space into the area’s premier destination for weddings and community gatherings. The Millers aren’t strangers to the area; Sarah grew up just a few miles away and has always dreamed of preserving the architectural heritage of Cambria County while giving it a modern, elegant purpose. When I asked Sarah why they chose to invest right here in Ebensburg, her eyes lit up. "We wanted to create a place where memories aren't just made, but where the history of our town feels present," she told me. "There was a real need for a venue that felt both upscale and 'home,' and Ebensburg’s community spirit is exactly the foundation we wanted for this business." The Loft features hand-hewn beams and a panoramic view of the rolling hills that make our county so special. It’s not just a wedding venue; they’re planning to host community markets and seasonal festivals too. How to support them: You can follow their progress and see sneak peeks of the renovation on Instagram and Facebook at @TheLoftAtWinterset. If you’re planning an event for later this year or 2027, you can reach out for a tour through their website or call 814-555-0123.
Jersey Mike’s SubsLocation: 4478 Admiral Peary Highway, Ebensburg, PA (Near the Ebensburg Commons) Opening Date: February 2026 For those of us who are always on the go between Johnstown and Altoona, the Admiral Peary Highway is getting a fresh new flavor this February! Jersey Mike’s Subs is officially opening its doors, led by franchise owner Mark Thompson. Mark has been a long-time fan of the brand’s "Sub Above" philosophy, but more importantly, he’s a believer in the local Ebensburg economy. After seeing the growth of the Ebensburg Commons area with the addition of Aldi and Starbucks, Mark knew it was the perfect spot to plant roots. "Ebensburg is a crossroads," Mark shared during our chat. "You have the students, the commuters, and the local families who deserve high-quality, fresh options without having to drive 20 minutes away. We’re here to fill that 'fresh-sliced' gap in the lunchtime rush!" What makes this opening special is Jersey Mike’s commitment to charity; they are already partnering with local schools for their "Month of Giving" this coming March. It’s a great way to grab a giant sub and give back to our own kids at the same time. How to support them: They’ll be open daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Keep an eye out for grand opening coupons in your mailer this week! You can also download the Jersey Mike’s app and set Ebensburg as your home location to start earning "Shore Points."
Northern Cambria is really having a moment! There is a wonderful sense of "paying it forward" in the northern part of our county right now. From cozy morning meeting spots to new local flavors, here is what’s fresh on the scene in Northern Cambria and what’s heating up in Johnstown.
Just Love Coffee CafeLocation: 2611 Bigler Ave, Northern Cambria, PA Status: Now Open! If you haven’t smelled the roasting beans on Bigler Avenue yet, you’re in for a treat. Just Love Coffee Cafe is the brainchild of local residents Mike and Karin Vasil. As high school sweethearts who raised their four children—Benjamin, Mara, Meghan, and Lainey—right here in town, they wanted to create a "community living room" to give back to the place that has been home for so long. They’ve transformed the space into a warm, inviting hub where the waffles are just as famous as the lattes. Gold Rush Diamonds & BoutiqueLocation: 3133 New Germany Road, Suite 72, Ebensburg, PA Current Status: Expanding services for 2026 If you’re looking to add a little sparkle to your start of the year, Gold Rush Diamonds & Boutique in Ebensburg is the place to be. Owned by Kristen, this boutique has become much more than just a jewelry store. It has evolved into a full fashion destination, blending high-end diamond jewelry with trendy women’s clothing and accessories from brands we all love, like Kendra Scott and Patagonia. Kristen’s background is rooted in personalized service; she started the boutique with the goal of bringing a "big city" styling experience to our hometown. "I’ve always believed that Ebensburg residents shouldn't have to drive to Pittsburgh for quality fashion and fine jewelry," Kristen shared. "We chose to grow here because our customers are our neighbors. We aren't just selling a necklace or a dress; we’re helping someone feel confident for a job interview or pick out an engagement ring that will stay in their family for generations." What makes this shop truly special is their "personal stylist" approach—they even offer virtual shopping and curbside pickup for those busy weeks when you can't make it into the store. How to support them: They are open Tuesday through Saturday, and you can see their latest arrivals on Instagram @GoldRushDiamonds. Need a gift but can't decide? Give them a call at 814-472-6500, and they’ll help you play personal shopper!
Fine Wine & Good Spirits (New Location)Location: Richland Town Center, 350 Town Centre Dr., Johnstown, PA Opening Date: Grand Opening January 20, 2026 Johnstown shoppers have a beautiful new space to explore in the Richland Town Center. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board just officially opened a brand new, 4,400-square-foot Fine Wine & Good Spirits location this month. This isn’t your average "state store"—it’s been designed with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and a massive selection of over 2,200 wines and spirits, including the highly-coveted "Chairman's Selection" for those of us looking for a great deal on a top-rated bottle. The PLCB team noted that this expansion was a direct response to the growth in the Richland area. "This new location allows us to better serve the Johnstown community with a modern shopping experience and a much wider variety of products," a spokesperson shared. The store is already becoming a hub for local foodies, as it features a dedicated section for "PA Proud" products, highlighting spirits made right here in the Commonwealth. How to support them: They are open Monday–Saturday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Keep an eye out for upcoming in-store tasting events where you can sample new arrivals!
