Drivers in Blair, Bedford, Cambria, and Somerset counties should prepare for possible traffic delays on Thursday, February 12, and Friday, February 13, as windmill blade superloads head to the Highland North Wind Farm near Beaverdale in Summerhill Township.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reports convoys will travel from Maryland, using U.S. 220, I-99, and several local routes, with departures scheduled throughout both mornings.
Motorists may see slow-moving vehicles along these routes, especially near the Roaring Spring-Portage and St. Michael-Sidman interchanges. The superloads will periodically pause to let traffic pass, but congestion is likely.
Local drivers are urged to stay alert, consider alternate routes, and expect delays. Visit 511PA for real-time updates and traffic conditions.
PennDOT also reminds everyone to follow posted signs, avoid distractions, and note that "Paul Miller's Law" bans hand-held devices behind the wheel after June 5, 2025. Read More... |
The Cambria Heights Highlanders fell to the Northern Cambria Colts, 61-39, in a recent high school basketball matchup, extending the Highlanders’ losing streak in this rivalry to four straight games.
Nolan Clawson and Levi Kline provided sparks for Cambria Heights—Clawson was especially sharp, hitting 71% of his shots and scoring 13 points, while Kline finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.
With this loss, Cambria Heights drops to 5-15 for the season as Northern Cambria solidifies its momentum, celebrating a sixth home win in a row and improving to 13-6.
Looking ahead, Cambria Heights prepares to challenge Portage, who recently locked up the Eastern Division’s top seed with a 63-39 win, led by Bode Layo’s 17 points and Trae Kargo’s 15.
The Highlanders remain determined to end their skid and leverage their talented roster in the next contests. Read More... |
A massive $20 million project is underway in Jackson Township to build a state-of-the-art training facility for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 126.
Located along U.S. Route 22, the new center is a direct response to the surging demand for skilled electrical workers in our community.
The project will replace an outdated facility from the 1970s, dramatically expanding the union's capacity to train the next generation of linemen.
It is expected to accommodate nearly ten times the number of apprentices, offering crucial hands-on experience with both overhead and underground systems.
The project received a significant boost from a $3 million state grant, secured with advocacy from State Senator Wayne Langerholc and Representative Frank Burns.
This major investment in Cambria County's workforce is anticipated to be operational by this October, shaping local careers for years to come. Read More... |

☕ Moon and Mug CoffeeLocation: 134 Gazebo Park, Downtown Johnstown Opening Date: Recently opened (late 2025/early 2026 season) If you’ve been walking through downtown Johnstown lately, you might have noticed a "dark and mysterious" aroma wafting from Gazebo Park. Moon and Mug Coffee has officially brought its "witchy vibes" to the neighborhood, offering a cozy and slightly mystical retreat for caffeine lovers. Whether you are a fan of a classic latte or looking for a specialty tea blend, this shop is all about creating an atmosphere that feels like a warm hug on a cold Cambria County day. The owners chose this specific spot across from the gazebo because they wanted to add a bit of magic to the heart of the city’s community space. They’ve mentioned that Johnstown was the perfect place for their venture because of the strong sense of local pride and the need for a unique, creative gathering spot where everyone—from artists to office workers—feels welcome. It’s not just a coffee shop; it’s a place to recharge your spirit!
🥪 Jersey Mike’s SubsLocation: 4478 Admiral Peary Highway, Ebensburg Opening Date: Projected February 11, 2026 Ebensburg residents, get your appetites ready! The wait is nearly over for the new Jersey Mike’s Subs on Admiral Peary Highway. This location has been "in development" for a few months, and according to the latest schedules, they are aiming to open their doors right about now—February 11th!. It’s a great addition to the local food scene, especially for families looking for a quick, fresh meal "a sub above" the usual fast food. While it’s a well-known name, this local franchise is bringing new jobs to the area and filling a gap for more fresh-sliced options along the busy Admiral Peary corridor. The team is excited to serve the Ebensburg community, citing the town's growth and the friendly, bustling atmosphere as the reason they chose this specific location. They’re looking forward to being a "good neighbor" and supporting local school events and fundraisers in the future.
