12 New Concrete Benches Enhance Ghost Town Trail Experience |
Trail users in Cambria County now have more comfortable resting spots along the scenic route |
Visitors to the Ghost Town Trail in Cambria County will find their journey more comfortable, thanks to the addition of 12 new concrete benches.
These benches, funded by a placemaking grant from the National Association of Realtors, replace older seating along the trail.
They offer durable and low-maintenance resting spots for those enjoying the trail's natural beauty.
Douglas Meagher, President of the Cambria Somerset Association of Realtors, emphasized the benefits: "If you've ever been on this trail, it's gorgeous. To sit down and just take in nature, just to relax. And of course, if you're out exercising, it's a place to stop and catch your breath. The way these benches are made, they're low maintenance; they're going to be here for years and years to come."
The benches are strategically placed from Ebensburg to Nanty Glo, ensuring ample resting spots along the route.
Officials highlight that the concrete material is designed to withstand Central Pennsylvania's changing weather, reducing maintenance efforts for trail managers.
The Ghost Town Trail, named for the former coal-mining communities along its path, spans 49 miles and is a popular destination for hikers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts.
Enhancements like these benches contribute to the trail's appeal and usability.
In recent years, the trail has seen significant developments, including extensions and the addition of artistic elements like murals, further enriching the experience for visitors.
These improvements reflect ongoing efforts to make the trail a premier recreational asset in the region. |
