Safe Disposal Day Scheduled for Cambria County Residents

Local event offers convenient way to handle hazardous household materials

Residents of Cambria County will have an opportunity to safely dispose of household chemicals during a one-day collection event hosted by the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) in partnership with the Cambria County Solid Waste Authority. The event is set for Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg.

The collection provides a safe and affordable option for getting rid of items such as household cleaners, paint, motor oil, batteries, pesticides, and e-cigarettes or vaping devices. For a fee of $20, participants may dispose of up to 10 gallons or 50 pounds of accepted materials.

Additional charges may apply for larger quantities, depending on staff assessment. Specialty items like fire extinguishers and liquid mercury will incur separate fees.

Advance registration is required and can be completed by phone or online. Participants are asked to place all items in their trunk or truck bed prior to arrival, allowing contractors to remove materials while drivers remain in their vehicles.

For registration details or a full list of accepted items, contact PRC directly, call PRC at 412-488-7490 or visit their website.
