Female Spotlight Athlete of the Week: Lydia Paskowski

Lydia Paskowski, a standout junior at Central Cambria High School, has been instrumental in leading the Lady Red Devils to the District VI Class 2A tennis championship.

 

On October 8, 2024, during the district finals at Westmont Hilltop High School in Johnstown, PA, Paskowski showcased her exceptional skills by securing a decisive victory over Westmont Hilltop's sophomore, Isabella Parrish. This match marked the tenth consecutive year that these two schools have faced off in the girls' title match, underscoring the intensity of their rivalry.

 

Earlier in the season, Paskowski demonstrated her resilience and determination. In a challenging three-set match against Central's top player, she emerged victorious with scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, contributing significantly to Central Cambria's narrow 3-2 win. Her performance was pivotal in maintaining the team's impressive 10-0 record at that point in the season.

 

Beyond her individual achievements, Paskowski's leadership has been a driving force for the Lady Red Devils. Her ability to perform under pressure and inspire her teammates has been evident throughout the season, culminating in their district championship triumph.

 

As the team prepares for the upcoming state tournaments, Paskowski's dedication and talent continue to set a high standard for high school tennis in the region.
