Community Foundation for the Alleghenies Awards Over $400,000 in Fall 2024 Grants |
The Community Foundation for the Alleghenies has announced the distribution of over $400,000 in grants to support various nonprofit organizations across Cambria County.
In its Fall 2024 Grant Round, the foundation awarded a total of $412,841 to 94 projects spanning Bedford, Cambria, Somerset, and Indiana counties.
Of this amount, more than $130,000 was allocated specifically to Cambria County nonprofits.
These funds aim to bolster initiatives such as playground enhancements, counseling services, library programs, weekend meal provisions for students, early childhood education classrooms, and recreational activities.
Additionally, support was extended to the arts, local fire and ambulance services, and cancer patient assistance programs.
Angie Berzonski, the foundation's Executive Director, expressed her enthusiasm for the generosity displayed by donors this year.
She highlighted the unprecedented nature of the contributions, noting that donor-advised funds contributed an additional $97,750, enabling the foundation to distribute grants more broadly than ever before.
One notable contribution came from the Wellington Fund, which donated an additional $135,000 to address human service needs and support feeding programs like the Cambria County Backpack Project.
This significant donation underscores the community's commitment to addressing pressing local needs.
In total, the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies provided over $600,000 to local projects, marking a record-setting grant round.
This achievement reflects the foundation's ongoing dedication to empowering individuals to make a lasting impact in the region.
