Explore how donation items and the veterans food drive can make an impact

The Laurel Highlands Historical Village is organizing a veterans food drive to support local veterans and elderly residents in need.

The collection will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday at the Walmart store near Ebensburg.

Community members are encouraged to donate a variety of items, including gift cards, non-perishable food, paper goods, hygiene products, blankets, towels, ceramic heaters, and both new and gently used kitchen items.

In addition to the Walmart collection, donations can be dropped off at several other locations: the Galleria Mall in Johnstown, Hoss’s restaurants in Ebensburg and Johnstown, Kimmie’s Restaurant in Mundys Corner, Stager’s in Portage, and Randy’s Bi Lo in Windber.

For those unable to visit these sites, gift cards and monetary contributions can be mailed to LHHV at 390 Rose Branch St., Johnstown, PA 15909.

According to recent reports, the organization has been receiving weekly requests for assistance from veterans, highlighting the urgent need for community support.

Residents are also encouraged to consider organizing their own food drives through local churches, schools, or community groups to further aid this cause.

For more information or to arrange a donation pickup, please contact the LHHV office at 814-241-6123.
