Community Gathers to Continue Holiday Tradition Amid Central Park Renovations |
In a heartwarming display of community spirit, volunteers have begun assembling Johnstown's beloved Christmas tree at Peoples Natural Gas Park.
This relocation is necessary due to ongoing renovations at Central Park, the tree's traditional home.
The Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership spearheaded the move to ensure the cherished holiday tradition continues uninterrupted.
Initially, the organization planned to cover the rental costs for the new location to keep the event free for families.
However, a generous sponsorship from First Summit Bank has alleviated these expenses, allowing the festivities to proceed without financial strain.
According to the partnership, the donation from First Summit Bank is tremendous.
They emphasized that as a volunteer organization, their efforts are driven by a desire to serve the community, and it's evident that the bank shares this commitment.
The community can look forward to viewing the tree starting November 21st, coinciding with the annual Light Up Night at 6:30 p.m.
The tree will serve as the centerpiece of the Christmas Village, featuring over 45 custom-built homes by local businesses.
Organizers assure that the village will retain the familiar charm of previous years, complete with the beloved train and the return of the hometown Christmas parade.
For more details on the Christmas Village and related events, residents are encouraged to visit the Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership's website.
Despite the change in venue, the community's dedication ensures that Johnstown's holiday spirit remains as vibrant as ever. |
