New concrete benches now line the Ghost Town Trail in Cambria County, providing visitors with comfortable, long-lasting resting spots.

Funded by a placemaking grant from the National Association of Realtors, the 12 benches replace aging seats and are designed for low maintenance.

Strategically placed from Ebensburg to Nanty Glo, these benches offer hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers durable places to pause and enjoy the trail’s scenic beauty.

Douglas Meagher, President of the Cambria Somerset Association of Realtors, highlights the benches’ lasting value and practicality.

Officials add that the concrete design easily withstands Central Pennsylvania’s changing weather, reducing upkeep for trail managers.

Spanning 49 miles and named for the region’s former coal communities, the upgraded trail continues to draw more visitors through recent amenities and artistic enhancements, strengthening its status as a local recreational gem.

State Representative Frank Burns is once again joining forces with Toys for Tots to spread holiday joy to children in need across Cambria County.

Community members are encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped toys at Rep. Burns’ Johnstown or Ebensburg offices through December 5.

Located at 535 Fairfield Ave. in Lower Yoder and 123 W. High St. in Ebensburg, these offices make giving easy and accessible.

This year, the local Southern Cambria and Somerset County Toys for Tots campaign is ambitiously working to brighten the season for 3,000 children by gathering 12,000 toys.

Residents can also support by hosting donation boxes, partnering with the campaign, or contributing funds and toys.

Contact Burns’ offices for questions, or stop by for help with state programs like PennDOT or the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program.

By coming together, the community can make this season magical for every child in Cambria County.
