Cambria Coffee Roasters (Ebensburg)
Our county seat just got a little more caffeinated! Located at 214 W. High Street in downtown Ebensburg, Cambria Coffee Roasters officially opened its doors on August 5, 2026. Founder and head roaster Marcus Miller, a Cambria County native with a decade of specialty coffee experience, returned home to fill a much-needed gap for locally roasted, single-origin beans and artisanal espresso drinks. "I’ve loved watching Ebensburg’s downtown thrive over the last few years, but I kept hearing neighbors say they had to drive out of town for freshly roasted specialty coffee," Marcus shared. "Cambria County has such a rich history of craftsmanship, and we wanted to bring that same hands-on dedication to every cup we brew right here on High Street." Beyond their signature small-batch roasts and homemade pastries, the cozy shop features a community table made from reclaimed local hemlock and showcases rotating artwork from area high school students. You can drop in Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM, follow them on Facebook and Instagram at @CambriaCoffeeRoasters, or call (814) 472-8822 for weekly bean roast updates.

The Heritage Market & Deli (Downtown Johnstown)
Fresh produce and local goods are officially back on Main Street with the mid-August opening of The Heritage Market & Deli at 416 Main Street in downtown Johnstown. Co-owned by husband-and-wife duo Elena and David Vance, this $1.1M neighborhood corner store combines a full-service deli counter with daily farm-fresh groceries. Elena, who grew up in the West End, realized how vital accessible grocery options are for downtown residents and office workers alike. "Downtown Johnstown is undergoing such a beautiful revitalization, but every thriving community needs a place where neighbors can grab fresh produce, local meats, and a quick lunch without leaving the neighborhood," Elena explained. "We chose to build here because we believe in Johnstown’s future and want to ensure our neighbors have fresh, high-quality food right at their doorstep." What makes the shop special is their local-first shelf pledge, sourcing over 40% of their dairy, meats, and seasonal vegetables directly from Cambria and Blair County farms. Stop by Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, check out daily deli lunch specials on Facebook at @HeritageMarketJohnstown, or contact the shop directly at (814) 539-9100.

Laurel Ridge Outdoor Supply (Portage)
Outdoors lovers in the eastern end of the county have a new go-to spot with Laurel Ridge Outdoor Supply, which celebrated its grand opening on July 20, 2026, at 612 Mountain Avenue in Portage. Owner Tyler Kovach—an avid local angler, hiker, and lifelong Portage resident—opened the shop to cater to sports enthusiasts exploring the nearby Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site and surrounding trails. "Portage is surrounded by incredible state parks and hiking routes, but locals used to have to drive at least 25 minutes just to get basic camping gear, live bait, or trail equipment," Tyler said. "I wanted to give our community a local shop where you can pick up reliable gear, get real-time fishing advice, and talk story with folks who actually know these trails inside and out." The shop sets itself apart with an in-store fishing tackle repair station and a rental program for kayaks and trail gear. You can visit Laurel Ridge Outdoor Supply Wednesday through Sunday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, reach them at (814) 736-4015, or connect with them on social media at @LaurelRidgeOutdoors.
